A leading figure behind the European Super League says there are 20 rebel clubs willing to kick the project back into gear.Back in 2021, football united in condemnation as some of the game's biggest players tried to form a breakaway league for the elite.
Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus have never withdrawn from the project, and Celtic and Rangers will have had an eye over the situation.
Both provided their backing to UEFA last month without an endorsement for fresh plans. The possible breakaway league is back on the radar after a European Court of Justice ruled against UEFA on the matter of blocking the formation of the rival Super League.
A22 Sports Management - the group behind the project - have claimed that 20 club are now in support of the new plans. Co-founder Anas Laghrari told El Espanol : "I don't want to say their [the clubs'] names because I don't want to expose them.
