Ollie Pope will play no further part in the Ashes after the England batsman picked up a shoulder injury in the second Test defeat to Australia.

The Surrey star has been ruled out of the remainder of the summer campaign after dislocating his right shoulder at Lord's. Scans revealed the full extent of the injury and Pope will now require surgery.

England have not called up a replacement for the third Test, which starts at Headingley on Thursday, with Dan Lawrence the most likely replacement for Pope in the starting XI.

A statement released by the ECB confirmed: “England and Surrey batter Ollie Pope has been ruled out of the rest of the LV= Insurance Men’s Ashes Series after dislocating his right shoulder during the second Ashes Test at Lord’s last week. “Scans in London on Monday revealed the full extent of the injury and he will miss the rest of the summer campaign and will require surgery.
