Emmerdale will air a sad death next week with Paddy Kirk among those quick to make an emotional tribute. Spoilers for the upcoming scenes reveal that the villagers will be informed of the death of Pearl Ladderbanks.

Viewers will see Paddy, Rhona Goskirk and Vanessa Woodfield are tearful upon hearing that Pearl has passed away. Paddy feels close to Pearl as he wears the last jumper she’ll ever knit for him.

Fans of the ITV soap will know that the news comes after Pearl actress Meg Johnson died "peacefully", aged 86, last year following a battle with dementia.

At the time, Emmerdale paid tribute to the star - who played the much-loved character from 2003 - who they described as "kind and wonderful" in a joint statement with her family.
