Pep Guardiola has been convinced by his players that they will compete until the very end of the season. The Blues made it 17 league games unbeaten with a 5-1 thrashing of Luton at the Etihad to spend a night on top of the Premier League table for the first time in nearly five months.
While Liverpool and Arsenal continue to push them all the way, City have put up a spirited defence of their title and lead the standings with just six games to go after all the results went in their favour this weekend.
Guardiola was not sure of his team earlier in the season but has seen enough in recent meetings with them to feel that they will continue to push until the last game of the campaign to try and win a record fourth league title in a row.
As well as that effort, City have the chance to book their place in the Champions League semi-finals and FA Cup final this week if they can make it past Real Madrid and Chelsea respectively.
