An electric bus looks set finally to go into service in and around the Glenkens after months of delays. The vehicle has been parked up at the council offices on Daar Road in Kirkcudbright since last October.

Glenkens Community Transport purchased the 17-seater EV for its fleet last year in a drive to cut carbon emissions. But schedules were set back when the manufacturer went into administration and was then taken over by another company.

Meanwhile, appeals from GCT to correct a software fault identified during the commissioning process went unheeded by the firm for four months.

Eventually another commercial operator was called in and fixed the fault in February. GCT is now in “ongoing conversations” with the council on installing a 25kW DC charger point for the eBus.
