Easyjet scraps free luggage allowance for certain flights in new announcement

Budget airline easyJet has announced it has scrapped free hold luggage allowances on particular flights. This change has seen easyJet begin charging customers for luggage on certain packages.

Passengers flying on easyJet’s city break packages who want to take a large cabin and hold baggage will now have to pay. However, hand luggage allowances will still be free, according to the Mirror.The baggage change will not impact customers who have purchased a flight-only ticket with easyJet, and other tour combinations will still include hold luggage.

Seven unmissable cities to travel to before you die - and what to see there When it comes to easyJet city break packages, if holidaymakers wish to take large cabin bags, which are placed in the overhead compartment, they will now have to pay £5.99 each way, and £9.49 for a 23kg hold luggage bag.In a statement, easyJet Holidays said: "We pride ourselves on delivering brilliant holidays at unbeatable prices, so we continuously listen to our customers on what would make our packages even better."Our customers have told us that 23kg for city breaks isn't always necessary, which is why from August 7, 2024 our city break holidays will include flights and hotel accommodation as standard, and an option of adding large cabin bags and holding luggage for a fee."The savings made through not attaching a bag to the booking will be applied to the overall holiday cost, and we're confident that tailoring our packages to suit the needs of holidaymakers will continue to provide our customers with ease and flexibility throughout their experience." According to easyJet’s baggage policy, all customers are allowed to bring one bag which can fit under the seat.
