Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff Tells DNC About Personal Side Of “Joyful Warrior” Kamala Harris

The veteran Los Angeles entertainment lawyer recalled how he and Harris met on a blind date in 2013 and, less than a year later, got married.
Then, he said, Harris blended so well with his family and his two children from a previous marriage that they took to calling her “Mamala,” while becoming friends with his ex-wife, Kerstin. “America, in this election, you have to decide who to trust with your family’s future,” Emhoff said. “I trusted Kamala with our family’s future.
It was the best decision I ever made.” Emhoff received a rousing welcome and chants of “Doug.” A short film was shown, narrated by his son Cole.
