East Kilbride schoolgirl, 7, recognised for running 70 miles in one month for Crohn's charity

A big-hearted seven-year-old East Kilbride girl is to be honoured for her inspirational charity work at this year's Tea Jenny event.Sophia Fyfe took on a mammoth running challenge during the month of July for a cause close to her heart and raised nearly £4000.With a number of family and friends suffering daily from Crohn's and ulcerative colitis disease, the thoughtful youngster made it her mission to raise as much cash as she could for the Catherine McEwan Foundation.The charity helps make sure every person in Scotland and beyond suffering from Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis or other inflammatory bowel disease has access to the best healthcare and be in the best health possible so they can live life to the full.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Sophia's mum Leah, 35, said: "Leah decided she wanted the challenge to be hard so that she could raise as much money as possible.
