Following the news they're parting ways after 14 years of marriage, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes could be headed for a 'court room battle' that is similar to Ant McPartlin's situation.
A spokesperson for the former This Morning hosts, both 64, gave a statement on their split on Saturday 25 May, which stated: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing." However, as they likely start to separate their lives - including who potentially gets ownership of their Border Collie cross dog, Maggie - it could get messy, according to a legal expert.
Marilyn Bell, partner and head of family law at SA Law, said: "Ruth and Eamonn own a dog together, which could create a point of contention. "Couples can spend huge amounts of time and money as part of court battles in order to decide who gets to keep their dog. This is why many couples now include 'pet-nups' in their marriage agreements, to avoid disputes over who gets to keep the pet if the marriage fails." This struggle is something that new dad Ant McPartlin is reportedly facing too.
Ant is now married to wife Anne-Marie, but it's been reported that he and ex wife Lisa Armstrong can't agree on who gets custody of their pooch, Hurley.
