A forces charity has been given a helping hand for Christmas thanks to some knitters. Southwest RNR has received 40 hampers to help their homeless veterans in the run up to Christmas.
Charity boss, Robin Hood, from Mossdale, said: “For the last few summers I have gone up to Clatteringshaws fundraising. “A Canadian lady, who now lives in Newton Stewart, who knits asked what I did and her and her group have put together 40 hampers, which is very kind. “I reckon there’s about £50 of stuff in each one – there’s a thermal fleece, a wooly hat, gloves, socks, Cuppa Soups, toothpaste, a brush and chocolate. “They’ve been taken to the Veterans Garden in Dumfries where they will be distributed to the most needy. “I could not do what I do with the Veterans Foundation paying my salary, which in turn means the majority of the public donations goes to do good work. “
