A driver has told a jury that he went into ‘survival mode’ and was 'fighting for his life' after being chased by a BMW moments before he crashed into a student in Oldham.

Omar Choudhury, 22, allegedly hit 16-year-old Alisha Goup on Rochdale Road in Oldham, as she made her way to Oldham College.

Minshull Street Crown Court previously heard that on February 23 this year, Mr Choudhury reached speeds of 66mph in a 30mph zone.

He was overtaking on the wrong side of the road when he clipped another vehicle which was turning right, before losing control and mounting the pavement, prosecutors allege.
