Dover ferry passengers warned of long queues ahead of summer holidays

Passengers passing through the Port of Dover this week are being warned that they could face delays of up to two and a half hours.

It comes as many schools break up for the summer holidays this Friday. Holidaymakers who are departing from Friday and travelling by car are urged to arrive up to three hours before their booked sailing.

This is up from two hours last year, while before the end of the Brexit transition period the port gave no advice for when people should turn up.

Processing times at the port have increased significantly due to post-Brexit passport checks by French border officials Police Aux Frontieres (PAF).
