When Diogo Dalot first arrived at Manchester United, Sir Bobby Charlton was still a significant presence around Old Trafford.
For many in the United side at Bramall Lane on Saturday night, they would only heard the stories of Charlton, but Dalot was one of maybe half-a-dozen who would have met one of the most important figures in the club's history.
The 86-year-old - who died on Saturday morning and was never far from the thoughts of anyone associated with United later yesterday as they paid tribute during the game against Sheffield United - hasn't been a regular at games for more than three years, since he was diagnosed with dementia in 2020.
But Dalot, who joined the club in June 2018, is one of the lucky few who had met the man and didn't need to rely solely on the mythology.
