But Claire Sweeney’s new role in Coronation Street as Tyrone Dobbs’ long lost mum Cassandra is Claire’s favourite role to date.
Claire’s character Cassandra doesn’t make her debut until Wednesday (28 June), but Claire already thinks she’s done the best work of her career.
On her second day she filmed a 14-page two-hander scene with Dame Maureen Lipman, who plays her cantankerous mother Evelyn.The memory will stay with Claire for a lifetime and she rates it above starring with late legend Patrick Swayze in West End musical Guys And Dolls. “It was lovely being on stage with Patrick Swayze,” says Claire. “I’ve loved all of that but that scene with Dame Maureen Lipman is my career highlight.
