The tale of how Coronation Street legend Sue Cleaver discovered her birth mother is more dramatic than any soap opera. Adopted just ten days after birth, Sue had an otherworldly encounter aged 23, when she landed a small role in Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre for the play Oedipus.

Co-star Michael N Harbour was taken aback at Sue's resemblance to his wife as a young woman and famously commented to the stage manager, "Oh my God, she's the spitting image of my wife when I met her." Despite their significant age difference, Sue, then 23, and the 41 year old Michael formed a close bond.

In her revealing new memoir A Work in Progress, Sue - who has stunned fans with her weight loss in recent years, reflects, "I was completely obsessed with him and fascinated by his stories about his family, I wasn't sure why." Things came to a head during a cast lunch where Michael teased Sue about her Northern accent and inquired about her origins.

When former I'm A Celeb star Sue revealed her birth details, stating she was actually from Barnet, Greater London and born on September 2, 1963, Michael urgently contacted his wife Lesley with the news: 'I've found her.', reports the Mirror.
