Coronation Street has confirmed the future of the Rovers Return revealing that it will reopen before the year is out - but with a 'ticking time bomb' buried beneath its grand return.

Fans have been left wondering what was happening with the local watering hole after Jenny Connor was forced to sell. The ITV soap's iconic boozer has been involved in a bit of a rollercoaster ride in the last few months as the cost of living crisis finally bit the Weatherfield institution.

Landlady Jenny ended up handing over the Rovers to Newton and Ridley, the brewery whose name has been associated with the pub since the beginning.

All seemed well with Jenny able to continue running the pub with the help of her staff - Daisy Midgeley, Sean Tully, Glenda Shuttleworth and Gemma Winter-Brown.
