Strike action by teachers at Manchester's Chetham's School of Music in a dispute over pensions is planned to take place on Tuesday, a union has revealed.

The action will involve 29 teachers who are members of the NASUWT union working at the renowned school, which is based near Manchester Victoria railway station in the city centre.

The union said it would be the first day of five planned days of industrial action. NASUWT bosses said Chetham's, the UK's largest specialist music school, is attempting to remove staff from the Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS) and enrol them in what they called an 'inferior' defined contribution scheme.
