Chad Michael Murray Looks Back on Belting Out A Britney Spears Song For 'Freaky Friday'

Chad Michael Murray is looking back on Freaky Friday. If you recall, the now 41-year-old actor played Jake, Anna’s (Lindsay Lohan) crush, who actually falls for her while her mother (Jamie Lee Curtis) is in her body due to the swap.

While speaking to Vulture, Chad recalled one of the scenes that still lives with him – and Britney Spears is involved. Keep reading to find out more… Chad said that his iconic scene, where he serenades Anna with Britney‘s “Baby One More Time”, in a Say Anything homage. “Mark [Waters, director] sent it to me the night before filming,” he said. “It wasn’t originally in the script.” Chad added that he told Mark he wasn’t a singer at all, to which “he said, ‘Even better!’ We shot it in a neighborhood where everyone was already asleep.

I felt so bad for them. They were none too pleased with our lights and me terribly belting Britney Spears at all hours of the night.” He also opened up about working, and flirting, with Jamie on the movie too. “It was one of those opportunities of just getting into the industry and you’re going up against someone who’s been around,” Chad says. “It wasn’t uncomfortable flirting with Jamie; it was just nerve-racking to not screw it up. . .

But Jamie was the best and was right there supporting me.” Freaky Friday was released in 2003, and this year marks the movie’s 20th anniversary.
