Ukrainian international Andriy Lunin of Real Madrid is still on the radar while Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher has also been linked, but the Iceland international could be on the way.
Goteborgs Posten report that Celtic are among "numerous" clubs who are "interested" in a deal for the Elfsborg number one. Belgian sides Anderlecht and Gent are said to also have him on their wishlists.
