As many of us gear up for our summer holidays in the coming days, the allure of warmer weather may tempt many to exchange their bustling inland lives for the coast, to fully enjoy the seaside both domestically and overseas.
However, while pebble-strewn beaches, clear seas and vast stretches of sand might seem like an ideal way to spend a relaxed afternoon, experts have issued a stern warning about a common beach activity that could potentially be fatal.
During annual trips to the beach, a popular activity for many visitors is to dig deep holes in the sand. However, The Sun reports that experts caution that these holes should only be dug with utmost care and should never exceed the knee height of the shortest person in the group or two feet at most.
This grave warning follows the tragic death of a seven year old girl in Florida earlier this year, who was buried alive when a five-foot hole she and her brother had dug caved in on her.
