Three guns and ammunition were found 'in bushes by children' in Heywood. Police officers were scrambled to the Darnhill area at around 6.30pm last night (Monday) to reports that a firearm had been found.

The Manchester Evening News understands that a child, or a group of children, made the sinister discovery in some bushes on a grassed area on Argyle Street, near to a local primary school.

A police spokesperson confirmed in a statement that officers found three guns at the scene. Ammunition was also found. No arrests have been made at this stage. Last night, pictures taken at the scene showed a cordon in place around an area of grass and bushes on Argyle Street.
