Bonfire night organisers light up donation appeal amid uncertain future

The organisers of a bonfire night celebration event are distributing donation appeal letters to recoup thousands amidst fears that this is its last year.Particip8 Overton and the 217 Gilbertfield Company Boys’ Brigade, who run the Halfway Community Fireworks Display in Cambuslang, are distributing the appeal prior to this year’s event on Saturday, November 4, at Newton Station Car Park, from 1pm to 8pm.The community fireworks display usually costs the planners around £5500, but due to rising costs, a necessary signage requirement from South Lanarkshire Council costing around £800 and an unexpected insurance bill of £1700, the cost to run the event has substantially increased.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
