Radio BBC Radio 2 legend Steve Wright died at the age of 69 on Tuesday night with tributes rolling in for the veteran DJ following the sad news announced by his family.His heartbroken family wrote: "It is with deep sorrow and profound regret that we announce the passing of our beloved Steve Wright.

In addition to his son, Tom, and daughter, Lucy, Steve leaves behind his brother, Laurence and his father Richard."Also, much-loved close friends and colleagues, and millions of devoted radio listeners who had the good fortune and great pleasure of allowing Steve into their daily lives as one of the UK's most enduring and popular radio personalities."The 69-year-old - whose cause of death has yet to be determined - overcame some tough hurdles in life as he opened up to millions of his listeners about his own romance during Sunday Love Songs which was a top performer for the BBC.However ironically according to the Mirror his love life wasn't all sunshine and rainbows as his marriage to Cyndi Robinson broke up 25 years ago and his career saw him too busy to find another partner."I work on an afternoon show on the BBC and I do a love songs show at the weekend and it means that I do a lot of interviews and I prep a lot and I write a lot.

So I have to work all the time," he told the publication back in 2019.Steve lived just a stone's throw away from Broadcasting House in Central London where he spent so much of his time alongside daughter Lucy and son Tom who was a friend of the late icon Amy Winehouse.
