One of the stars of BBC Breakfast was left having to halt a planned part of the programme as some technical gremlins struck.

Sports presenter Mike Bushell was doing his latest report on the BBC One news programme on Tuesday morning (July 18) when he crossed live to Shaimaa Khalil.

Shaimaa was reporting live from Melbourne, Australia, on concerns about the viability of the Commonwealth Games. Australia has pulled out of hosting the 2026 Commonwealth Games, as Mike explained: "Once again, the Commonwealth Games organisers are searching for a host for 2026. "Our correspondent Shaimaa Khalil joins us from the state capital Melbourne to tell us more about this, good morning Shaimaa.

This is a huge call to make then, isn't it? Tell us more about what the Victoria organisers have been saying."
