Baywatch might be making a big return to television! According to a new report from Deadline, high interest in the series has sparked conversations about reviving the series for another go at the small screen. Keep reading to find out more… Reliable sources close to the story told the outlet that Fremantle is currently in the process of developing a reboot, and preliminary discussions have started with networks and streaming platforms.
The original show centered on a group of lifeguards who patrolled the beaches of LA County. The series was axed after just one season at NBC.
However, it was then picked up for a syndicated version with All American Television with German distributor Beta Taurus financing the project.
That iteration ran for 10 seasons. The rights to Baywatch, Deadline says, has been tricky, as Fremantle held the rights to the show after All American Television was assumed by Pearson, which then became Fremantle.
