Dua Lipa is schooling Saturday Night Live on the bad blood between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. During a local news segment sketch, the “Dance The Night Away” singer appeared as a culture critic Wanda Weems to catch audiences up to speed on all the jabs the two rappers have taken at each other in diss tracks over the past few days.
But, as it turns out, Good Morning Greenville‘s culture reporter isn’t quite so tapped in. “One clue on the song ‘Euphoria,’ when Kendrick describes Drake as Canadian, that’s because Drake is from Toronto,” she says, stating an obvious fact about the “Hotline Bling” rapper.
She continues, “And he calls Drake ‘Crodie,’ which is a term used by the Crips, which according to Wikipedia is an alliance of street gangs based in Southern California.” While none of her insight is much more helpful than that, things take a bit of a left turn once Dua Lipa mentions that “Drake is being sued by Tupac’s estate for using an AI version of his voice” on one of his recent songs, “Taylor Made Freestyle.” “It’s funny you should mention AI, because we’ve actually got some AI that can settle this whole silly feud once and for all,” Mikey Day’s morning show host says, before he and his co-host, played by Heidi Gardner, pull out talking heads of the two rappers.
