Baby who died in Scots church car park named as parents pay tribute to 'beautiful girl'

The baby who died after being hit by Land Rover in an Aberdeenshire church car park has been named.The wee tot was identified as Ivy Mae by her devastated parents after the tragic incident last night, Wednesday, May 16, at Plymouth Brethren Church in Balmedie at 7.45pm.

It is believed the family were all members of the church. The one-year-old girl was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but died shortly after.

The 40-year-old driver was uninjured.Images show police placing a large cordon around the scene last night after the incident.

A spokesperson for the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church released a statement on behalf of the child's parents, Holly and Glenn.It said: "We can confirm that our beautiful daughter Ivy Mae passed away following a tragic accident last evening after our regular church gathering in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire." We are absolutely devasted and ask that our privacy is respected at this challenging time.
