Fraser Bryden insists he's raring to get among the goals after hitting the ground running in the new campaign. The teen striker rescued a draw at Stirling yesterday before Ayr landed a Viaplay Cup bonus point on penalties. And for Bryden, it's the perfect start after he spent much of last season looking on from the sidelines with just six league starts to his name. The 18-year-old insists he's now ready to grasp his chance with a clean slate this term and made a big impact after stepping off the bench at Forthbank. He told the Ayrshire Post: "I was brought on to have a positive impact and I'm just glad I could do that.

I wasn't pleased with my overall performance but I suppose the goal was the important thing in the end. As a striker I'm there to do that. "I've worked really hard in the off season and have come back bigger, better and faster and really feel the benefits of the work I've done.

I'm just raring to go now. It's a case of biding my time and when I get the chance I have to take it, which I have done here."Last season was a bit stop-start after getting the operation on my knee right at the start and missing 10 games.

It was hard at that age when the other lads were going off to training and I was left at Somerset myself doing the rehab. That's mentally tough but these things happen in football."It proved a good learning experience and is part and parcel of being a young player that you have to bide your time.
