Errol Douglas took his tally to eight goals in just four games to start the season as Broxburn Athletic kept their perfect record intact in a 4-3 thriller against Dundonald Bluebell. The striker bagged himself a hat-trick as Steve Pittman’s side recovered in style after finding themselves two goals down just before the half-hour mark.Cool finishes from Daryl Healy on eight minutes and Regan Lumsden on 28 had the Brox’s 100 per cent record firmly in doubt - but the on-fire Douglas had them level by the interval.

He latched onto a fine Mark Munro cross to reduce the deficit on 31 minutes before netting his second just before the half-time whistle from the spot. The comeback was complete eight minutes into the second-half when Nick Locke’s delivery wasn’t dealt with properly and Gary Brass was on-hand to turn the ball home before Douglas completed his treble a few minutes later.

He nodded home a Liam Campbell free-kick to double Athletic’s lead.Bluebell refused to wilt, however, and got themselves back into the contest through Calum Smith on 72 minutes thanks to a wonderful lob over Bob Watt in the Brox goal.

A sturdy defensive effort over the closing stages, however, ensured the points would be staying in West Lothian. The Brox were one of three local sides who made it four wins from four to start their league campaigns as both Bathgate Thistle and West Calder United have yet to drop points in the Third Division. The Cauther missed out on promotion on the final day last term and have started strongly this time around.
