'Abusive' Ayr care worker labelled resident a "f*****g a**hole and a "f*****g idiot" after they fell on the floor

An Ayr care home worker who labelled a vulnerable resident a “f*****g a**hole” and a “f***ing idiot” after a fall, has avoided being struck off by the industry regulator.Claire Martin, of Ayr, uttered the disgraceful remarks after the resident took a tumble at a care home owned by Park Homes UK Ltd.

The incident happened on November 1 last year and prompted an investigation by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) - with Martin facing four charges.They said Martin’s fitness to practise was “impaired” because of “misconduct.” However, Martin was allowed to remain in the industry and instead of a striking off order, she was made subject to a warning, which will stay on her registration for the next two years.In their report the SSSC said that when the resident, known only as ‘AA’ fell, Martin said to them: “What the hell are you doing on the floor,” or words to that effect.

And when the resident sought assistance, Martin replied: “Well, no I canny. I canny lift you up myself.
