A simple eating habit that's often used for people trying to lose weight could improve the memory of people with Alzheimer's, a new study has found.Alzheimer's disease, which is a progressive condition, is most common in people over the age of 65, according to the NHS.

It's estimated that around 900,000 people in the UK are living with the illness. However, scientists at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine have discovered that intermittent fasting could "drastically improve" the lives of Alzheimer's sufferers and the people who care for them.

The study showed that in mice, it was possible to improve the circadian disruptions seen in Alzheimer's by carrying out time-restricted feeding.

This involves only eating during a certain time window in the day, but not reducing the amount of food - something that's also recommended for healthy weight loss.
