Albion Rovers boss picks up first win with 'great team performance' as side climb off bottom of League Two

Sandy Clark hailed a ‘great team performance’ as his first victory as Albion Rovers manager hauled the club off the bottom of League Two.Strikes from Charlie Reilly and Joe Bevan in the space of four minutes early in the second half against Elgin City sent Rovers on the road to victory, before Bevan grabbed his second of the day seven minutes from time to earn just a ninth victory this term.It saw Rovers leapfrog Elgin and send the Borough Briggs side into the pyramid play-off spot on goal difference, although Elgin are set to play Stenhousemuir in their game in hand over Rovers tonight.Clark was thrilled to get that maiden victory after succeeding Brian Reid late last month and said: “The most important thing was getting the three points, but it was also a really solid performance from the guys and that makes it even better.“Having gotten to know the boys a bit now, it is no surprise to me because I know they are good enough to go and win games.“Joe and Charlie will get the praise and that is what happens when you put the ball in the back of the net – and rightly so – but there is no doubt it was a real team performance on Saturday.
