Airdrie pensioner raises £5220 for cancer charity in 80-mile hike for brother and pal

An Airdrie pensioner who strolled to success by completing an 80-mile walk for Prostate Cancer UK after his brother and friend were diagnosed with the illness raises over £5200 for the charity.Hugh Samson finished his solo journey of the Great Glen Way, which took six days to complete alongside wild camping to raise money on behalf of his brother, William Samson, and his friend Peter Douglas who were diagnosed with prostate cancer within months of each other last year.The pensioner even decided to redo the final 16 miles from Drumnadrochit after learning that Peter wanted to finish the Great Glen Way with him after he finished it.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
