Christopher Hemsworth (born 11 August 1983) is an Australian actor. He rose to prominence playing Kim Hyde in the Australian TV series Home and Away (2004–07) before beginning a film career in Hollywood by taking on parts in the science fiction film Star Trek (2009) and the thriller A Perfect Getaway (2009).
Hemsworth went on to star in the fantasy film Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), the war film Red Dawn (2012), the action thriller Blackhat (2015), the biographical thriller In the Heart of the Sea (2015), the comedy Ghostbusters (2016), and the Men in Black film series spin-off Men in Black: International (2019). His most critically acclaimed roles include the comedy horror The Cabin in the Woods (2012) and the biographical sports film Rush (2013), in which he portrayed James Hunt.
Two activists have been arrested after a marble bust of Queen Victoria in Glasgow was vandalism with jam, porridge and spray paint.
A swear word was daubed in bright pink paint onto the plinth at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum on Sunday at around noon.
The protest was allegedly staged by two individuals from campaign group This Is Rigged as they blasted skyrocketing food prices.The group claim they want to draw attention to the 'extreme cost of living crisis' as well as 'greed shown by private companies and executives'.Glasgow Life - who managed the museum - confirmed it was temporarily closed for a short time following an incident. A spokesperson said: “On Police Scotland’s advice, we temporarily closed Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum earlier this afternoon after climate protestors covered a bust of Queen Victoria in porridge and jam and spray-painted an offensive word on the plinth below the statue.“Two people were subsequently arrested.
The museum has since reopened, however the Expression Court where the statue is displayed will remain partially closed for the rest of the day while our conservation team works to ascertain the extent of any damage.“The profanity has been removed.”A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.55am on Sunday, 3 March 2024, police were called to a report of a protest and alleged vandalism within Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow."Two women, aged 23 and 30 years, have been arrested and charged following the incident.
