Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane believes the gulf between Manchester City and their rivals will shrink once Pep Guardiola leaves the club.

Guardiola, who led City to a fourth successive Premier League crown this season, is out-of-contract at the Etihad Stadium in June 2025.

He has overseen a sterling job since succeeding Manuel Pellegrini in 2016, winning 17 major trophies. For almost all of his duration at the helm, City have been the dominant force in English football, only being denied the Premier League title once since 2019.

Liverpool denied them seven titles on the bounce by winning the crown in 2020.
