A 100-year-old woman got an amazing surprise - when a star of her favourite soap visited her care home. Dorothy Crawshaw, a retired school cook, met Emmerdale’s Emma Atkins who has played Charity Dingle since 2000, one of her favourite characters in the show.
The pair met at Lavender Hills Care Home based in Bury, Greater Manchester where Dorothy was also gifted a shared message from the cast of Emmerdale and a bottle of champagne. Dorothy was born on the 4th July 1923 where she grew up in Ramsbottom and was an only child to Thomas, a WW1 veteran and Helen Crowder.
She worked as a school cook for the majority of her life at different schools such as Balladen Primary School in Rawtenstall and Hazlehurst Primary School in Ramsbottom.
