Young Scots footballer dies suddenly as supporters call for minute's applause

Aberdeen fans are being urged to pay tribute to a young supporter who tragically passed away.Benjamin Bradford, 16, died at his home in Aberdeen on May 25.

The youngster, who once played for Rattrays XI AFC and who was a massive fan of Aberdeen Football Club, is understood to have died in his sleep.Supporters are being urged to take part in a minute's applause in memory of the tragic teenager during Aberdeen's game tonight in the League Cup in the Granite City.Benjamin's funeral was held at Pittodrie Stadium on June 12.

In a touching tribute, fans have called for a minute's applause to be held at the stadium this evening in his memory. A statement read: "Anyone who knew Ben would know he was a chatty, kind, caring young man with a huge passion for football."The club is expected to play against Airdrie in the Scottish League Cup tonight.

Fans have been asked to begin an applause for the youngster during the 14th minute.The timing was chosen because 14 was his favourite shirt number.Football fan Neil Gordon wrote on Facebook: "What a sad moment this is, let’s make this happen on Tuesday evening Dandies!
