Two men have been handed lengthy prison sentences for the rapes of multiple teenage girls at parties in Plymouth. Saif Kahya, 32, was found guilty of two counts of rape which took place in May and December 2017, while Abalzaq Salih, 31, was convicted of rape of a third girl in December 2019.

A third man, Anthony Anantharajah, 35, was also found guilty of rape of a female aged 16 or over. He has yet to be sentenced.

All three men denied the charges, forcing their victims to relive their ordeals over a five week trial, where they bravely gave evidence in court.

Sentencing Kahya and Salih (from Liverpool and Plymouth respectively) at Plymouth Crown Court yesterday (September 25), Judge Peter Johnson praised the victims for the “commendable inner strength” it had taken to come forward.
