The exotic fruit is totally edible - skin and all - and the outer skin people usually throw in the bin is packed with health benefits.People have been told they're missing out on better gut health, as well as looking younger, by chucking away the skin of kiwi fruit - instead of eating it.
The advice comes as a TikTok video of Hollywood actress Jenna Ortega has gone viral.Dr Joseph Salhab, known online as the Stomach Doc, used a clip of actress Jenna Ortega, famed for her role in Netflix's 'Wednesday', munching on a kiwi like an apple.
The video she posted was captioned: "Today I realized you can eat kiwi with the skin on."The medical professional took over, and said: "If you eat a kiwi with the skin on you actually get 50% more fibre and some more vitamins and nutrients.
But, you'll want to wash it really well and get some of those little hairs off."In his video, gastroenterologist Dr Salhab explained that the hairs can make for an somewhat unpleasant texture while eating.
