One man was shocked when he found himself left off the guest list when his girlfriend's cousin was getting married in Italy, despite them having a child together.But the scenario got even messier when he realised his girlfriend expected him to pay for her to attend the wedding on her own, reports the Mirror.
While she was asked to be a bridesmaid, he still wasn't being invited as her plus-one, he said in a post on Reddit.Initially he took the news quite personally, before realising it was probably due to the high cost of a wedding abroad, and the couple trying to save money.
Other guests had opted not to attend the wedding in protest to their partners not being invited, he said - but he was still supportive that his girlfriend should go alone.He said: "Our grand plan was to still travel to Italy and have a holiday out of it, myself and our little boy, who will be one-year-old, just exploring for the day she’s at the wedding.
