Guardiola, who is widely regarded as one of football's greatest managers, led City to a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title last season and clinched the treble in the 2022/2023 campaign.
However, his contract at the Etihad Stadium is due to expire at the end of this season, which piqued interest from FA chiefs while searching for Gareth Southgate's permanent successor.
Instead of pursuing Guardiola, the FA made a move for Tuchel, though, as the next England manager. The German, 51, was officially confirmed as manager on Wednesday - three months after Southgate stepped down following England's loss in the Euro 2024 final.
