West Lothian drama group is 'igniting creative spark in children and young people'

Firefly Arts is a pioneering organisation that has been igniting the creative spark in children and young people across West Lothian since 1990.Their multifaceted approach encompasses youth theatre, film, music, dance and visual arts, delivered through workshops, community projects, training and internships.

Central to their ethos is the belief in empowering young people to shape positive futures for themselves and their communities.At Firefly Arts, empowerment is at the core of their mission.

Firefly delivers creative activities that promote learning and curiosity to help young people become stronger, make friends and build their confidence.Firefly have just started a new term and are currently working towards productions that will be showcased closer to the summer break.They run weekly youth theatre groups in Armadale, Linlithgow and Livingston, with groups varying in ages from five to 18.A spokesperson said: “There is space for everyone at Firefly and no matter what your interests, skills or background, we’ll have something that you’ll enjoy engaging with.“Firefly offers engagement for young people from just £3.50 per week and are committed to making the arts accessible for all.”Firefly are currently working on an international project with two partner youth theatres, ‘1812’ youth theatre from just outside of York and ‘The Bronks’ youth theatre, based in Brussels.All three youth theatres are collaborating on a new and exciting piece of performance that will be taken to Youth Theatre Arts Scotland’s bi-yearly festival, the National Festival of Youth Theatre held in Ayr.Firefly work in collaboration with many of the schools throughout West Lothian, offering bespoke drama workshops and projects, tailored to the wants and
