Tory Lanez drops new songs ‘Cell 245’ and ‘Wish I Never Met You’ as part of ‘Prison Tapes’ series

In a “quick update” posted to his Instagram page, he said he “cracked the code”, adding that he and his engineer had “finally figure[d] out how to record music over the jail phone and still keep the quality as professional”.He also promised that he would be “dropping the all-new ‘Free Tory’ playlist” which will be updated weekly.“This moment is only temporary,” Lanez concluded. “It speaks testimony to the fact that no matter where they put me they can’t lock down my spirit, my ambition, my soul my passion nor my destiny!”A post shared by FARGO’S CRAZY LIFE (@torylanez)On July 26, the multi-platinum-selling rapper added the two songs to his newly-announced ‘Free Tory’ playlist. ‘Cell 245’ starts with a clip from a recorded prison phone call, before the Toronto native reflects on his life and alludes to the ongoing appeal of his conviction.“I’ma beat my case, bitch, I ain’t worried ’bout no settlement/ Truly, I’m a gentleman, let the Lord settle it,” he raps.The melodic ‘Wish I Never Met You’ sees Lanez vent about a past relationship, reflecting on losing a woman he used to watch anime with.
He raps: “We watched anime ’til we can’t watch/ I can’t watch no more/ It remind me of you way too much/ We came way too close/ Didn’t know losin’ you’d be way too much.”Many have speculated that he is talking about the self-proclaimed “weeb” Megan Thee Stallion on ‘Wish I Never Met You’.
