Wantaway Todd Cantwell has declared he is "thankful" to have played alongside Connor Goldson as he spoke for the first time since his Rangers transfer request was made public. The playmaker looks to be heading for the exit door having been relegated to the B team after expressing his desire to leave the club to boss Philippe Clement - who went public with the view of the 26-year-old last week following their pre-season defeat to Birmingham City.
Cardiff City have been floated as a potential destination for the Englishman but boss Clement has left the door open for a U-turn from Cantwell. Now he has finally spoken for the first time on social media as he sent a message to outgoing centre-back Goldson after the Ibrox stalwart sealed a move to Aris Limassol.
Writing to his Instagram page, Cantwell shared an image alongside the former Rangers' vice-captain stating: “You’re a leader.
You certainly took me under your wing. I am thankful for the time we spent together.”Speaking ahead of the first Scottish Premiership fixture of the new season, Clement admitted he could reintegrate Cantwell to his squad if he reconsiders his exit.
