Hear the word ‘Ibiza’ and images of a sun-soaked party-island spring to mind - not a town in North Yorkshire and a mediaeval castle.

But that’s the nickname that Skipton received this year. The picturesque Yorkshire town hit the headlines at the start of 2023 and was dubbed ‘Little Ibiza’ due to its raucous nightlife.

It was claimed that Keighley Road "boomed out club music every week" starting at 6pm and finishing at 3am and that "the nightclub takes this on until 5am", YorkshireLive reports.

The comparison of Skipton with the party destination of Ibiza naturally caused a bit of a stir among locals. The historic market town is usually known as “the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales”, rather than a party destination.
