The Chase star Darragh Ennis has opened up about the trolling he faces on social media, urging quiz fans to think twice before posting "horrible" comments.

The TV personality, who currently stars in ITV's Beat the Chasers, told OK! in an exclusive chat that he fired back at trolls online after one "really bad performance" on the show. "I wasn't upset by what [trolls] were saying but I'm looking at what they're saying and thinking, 'These people need to dial back what they're doing,'" said Darragh, 43. "I'd had a show where I got a few questions wrong.

It got into my head and I just fell apart. I couldn't concentrate and I had a really bad performance. It happens every so often.

But people were tagging me and saying how terrible I was and, 'Are you sure they're not going to sack you?' "If I was the kind of person who let that get to me, I'd be like rocking backwards and forwards because it was dozens of people," he added. "It's absolutely fine to criticise them when their in the public eye, that happens, but you don't need to tag them. "I just think people need to take a breath and go, 'If I wouldn't say this to their face, why would I think it's OK to say it online just because there's no repercussions?'" Darragh added that he was advised by ITV and The Chase's production company not to look at social media. "They said if I ever did get upset, to just stop [looking at social media].
