A man was left gutted after scoffing a tasty treat without realising it could have won him £10,000 if he hadn't eaten it. Back in 2022, Cadbury launched their Creme Egg hunt - with the chocolate giants hiding 146 half white and half milk chocolate eggs across the UK.The competition ran between the start of the year and April 17, with top prizes of up to £10k.

In order to have been in with a chance of scooping the jackpot - you had to find one of the limited edition eggs and not eat it.But there was one man who did not get the memo and, as he devoured the delicious delicacy, he destroyed any hopes he had of winning the five-figure sum, The Mirror reports.Unfortunately for the 21-year-old, he was unaware of the true meaning of the special half-and-half eggs at the time, and only found out in the hours after he had eaten his.Having scoffed the egg and thrown the foil wrapper away, he saw an advert for the promotion and was left crestfallen.

The student shared his disappointment on Reddit, choosing to remain anonymous. He explained: "I am an international student studying in the UK, and so I don't really keep up with the ads here.

A few months ago, Cadbury released 146 prize-winning eggs across the country with the chance of winning a range of cash prizes including £10,000 (which is half my university tuition)."Long story short, I was scrolling through Instagram today and saw the prize-winning egg that looked identical to the one I ate a couple of hours ago.
