Strictly Come Dancing's professional dancer Robin Windsor, whose death was announced on Tuesday, 20 February, recently revealed that leaving the hit show "wasn't my choice", saying it "broke his heart".The professional dancer, who was just 44 when he passed away, had to quit the BBC series after suffering a back injury that required surgery.

Before being replaced by his friend Trent Whiddon, he performed one dance in the 2014 series with Pixie Lott and was then brought back to perform with This Morning's Alison Hammond in the 2015 Strictly Christmas Special.

In an interview late last year, he claimed that TV bosses "didn't want to" ask him to come back to Strictly after his operation, leaving him heartbroken. "Leaving Strictly wasn't my choice," he said in a chat with Betway. "I had a horrible back operation and they decided that they didn't want to ask me back the next year.

It was probably for health and safety reasons, in case something happened, but I was physically fit." He also said that it was difficult watching Trent take his place in the 12th series, and credited his then boyfriend, The X Factor star Marcus Collins, with getting him through it.
