Kate Middleton tipped for major new role after Andrew steps down
dailyrecord.co.ukKate Middleton has been rumoured to be taking over a major role from the King although she will have to step forward if she wants it, according to reports.Prince Andrew stepped down from the Royal Thames Yacht Club in 2021.
Kate is reportedly hoping to fill his boots as their new Commodore with her background as an enthusiast in sailing. The patronage was passed to King Charles following the Duke of York stepping down.
Previous patrons of the club included Prince Philip and Lord Mountbatten, reports the Mirror.It comes as the club launched a new event called "Women Who Rock the Boat" earlier this week in a bid to "encourage women into the sailing world".
A senior member of the club said the Princess of Wales "would be a great role model".But the stumbling block according to an insider who spoke to the Daily Mail said the club cannot approach the palace with the suggestion, but the decision needs to come from within the Royal Family.
