Some warmer spring weather for Scots is finally on the horizon as temperatures in certain regions could peak at above 20C this week - which is hotter than it will be in Madrid, Spain.According to the Met Office, the west coast of Scotland is likely to heat up as we head into the month of May, with one town in particular seeing the highest temperatures.
However, not everywhere in the country will get to enjoy the warmer weather right now, as there is a stark contrast between the west and the east with some wetter spells also expected to hit.
A graph posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, by the Met Office shows that temperatures in Oban could peak at 21C on Thursday May 2.
Meanwhile, the forecaster's prediction for Newcastle-upon-Tyne is 12C on that day. And the Met Office's forecast for the Spanish capital Madrid shows highs of just 14C - meaning Scots could have a better chance of sunbathing than those in Spain.
